• .30 Caliber Brass Twist Pen in Rattlesnake Skin

    $ 79.00

    The Pen:
    Popular .30 caliber bullet cartridge pen is now streamlined in this twist version. Includes all the appointments of our 24kt Gold click pen, plus a Rose Gold tip that simulates an actual copper bullet. Rifle scope clip, casing twist mechanism, rose gold slug and striking cap.

    The Process:
    The rattlesnake skin was procured by me via clearing my property. The snake was humanely killed, skinned and the hide tanned.  The skin was then cut and glued to brass pen barrels were sprayed black.  The tube was then corked and weighted with lead and placed in a rectangular mold of polyester resin. After hardening, then tubes were cut and drilled out of the block. It was then turned on the lathe and cut down with very sharp tools. Then sanded through twelve grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. A final coat finish of cyanoacrolate (”CA” Superglue) was applied, then buffed until shining beautifully. This method of finishing gives your pens the most durable exterior possible and a glisten that will last for many years with paint that will absolutely never come off.

  • Pioneer Twist Pen in Curly Spalted Hackberry

    $ 49.00

    The Pen:
    This pen was created using 24K gold plated hardware from the pioneer pen series. Curling (appearing as water ripples perpendicular to the grain) outlines look like etchings along a two-tone palette of light and muddled browns. Strong figure in every direction.

    The Species:
    Heartwood is light brown to gray. Wide sapwood is a contrasting light yellow. Susceptible to blue-gray fungal staining. Hackberry’s first commercial role was as hoops for barrels because of the wood’s toughness and flexibility. Now, though, the wood becomes kitchen cabinets, inexpensive furniture and beautiful pens and boxes. The spalting occurred from lying on the ground after it was felled and creates a completely unique pattern in the wood.

In addition to its medicinal values, the lingering scent of Camphor is also reported to inhibit silver from tarnishing and ward off moths, and the wood is sometimes used in trunks and chests where valuables are stored.

  • Wooden Bowl in Wild Olivewood

    $ 25.00

    ~ FREE SHIPPING ON THIS ITEM ~

    The Bowl:
    First cut and drilled, then turned on a lathe by me, Jack. Sanding was completed through many grits until the piece is perfectly smooth to the touch. The grain pattern is wild and beautiful. The bowl is a mix of light tan colors with dark lines and molting throughout.  It’s a good bowl, but not perfect. See “More About…” at the bottom of the page for full details.

    The Species:
    Olive is sometimes figured with curly or wavy grain, burl, or wild grain.  Because of the fruit’s economic importance, trees aren’t felled for lumber and its scarcity makes it valuable for working. What makes this hardwood so unique is the extraordinary grain pattern of each individual piece, as well as the distinctive and inviting fragrance that it gives off. It even becomes darker, richer,  and more beautiful in color as it ages! Occasionally available from wild trees, like this lumber.

  • “Life Is Fine” Photographic Canvas Print

    $ 165.00$ 240.00

    Taken: March 5th, 2011 – 4:53pm

    64° – cooling evening air with warmth from large rocks underfoot. Long, thin, slow moving cloud moving out from the mountains, highlighted by the setting sun. A moment so serene, the flocks of birds fly silently as they moved westward. Occasionally you would hear a thunderous flapping of wings as a group approached, even at long distances.

    Around sunset, I began to notice something I had never really experienced before. My skin, along with every pale object for ten miles around, had begun to glow a color a hazy pink, purple or orange.

    The sun had fallen behind the western mountain range and any lasting light beyond it was softly reflecting off the ground and atmosphere to our side.

    To add to the experience, the flat, dark sea water reflected this ambient light creating one of the softest, warmest locations I have photographed.

The original was auctioned at a charity event. This is the first chance for you to own a copy of this piece.

    The piece was inspired by all the “noise and distractions” in the world, which keep us from empathizing and helping others. We are pushed towards becoming more machine than man and expected to ignore the struggles of our brothers and sisters worldwide.
