Classic chrome bottle stopper with tapered design to fit nearly all any bottle. Rubber rings ensure a tight seal. A beautiful stopper from any angle. Subtle dark brown lines through light colors with large pores. This stopper also has a crushed stone inlay in the top and a crushed stone ring embossed near the bottom.
Heartwood is yellow to golden brown, with irregular brown, purple, or black streaks. Paler sapwood is about one inch thick and is solid yellow, lacking the contrasting streaks found in the heartwood. The high contrast between the golden body and the much darker streaks give it an appearance somewhat similar to natural marble, hence the common name of “Marblewood” for this species.
The hand selected pieces for this pen were turned by Jack D. Ciallella on a lathe. They were sanded through several grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. The wood is then finished with boiled linseed oil, friction polish and wax, being buffed to a satin gloss.
Note: the exact color of the stone was hard to reproduce in the photographs. It is a pretty blue with a slight green tinge.
The majority of this item was made, assembled and finished by hand.
