The Marble:
Made of borosilicate glass by lampworker Amber Contrill, this double sided marble features implosions, dot stacks on the side and a floating opal. This double sided piece isn’t backed and lights light shine through for many color / lighting possibilities.
The Stand:
This is a marble / display stand. It holds marbles up to 1.5″. Created by dying and gluing together wood veneers. The block of wood is then turned on a lathe to create the unique shape. One of a kind, matching marbles and stands.
The Process:
The hand selected pieces for this pen were turned by Jack D. Ciallella on a lathe. They were sanded through several grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. The wood is then finished with boiled linseed oil, friction polish and wax, being buffed to a satin gloss.
