Hand turned wooden bowl made of Osage Orange. Traditional flower pot shape with protruding, beveled ring at the top and large foot at the bottom. The inside has a nice matching taper. Extremely bright wood. Orange, yellow and iridescent, the grain runs around the bowl in a nice even, well spaced wave pattern. Semi-open pores with medium sheen finish. Though not visible in the photos, this piece has a single 1/2″ rectangular knot on the side.
Approx. 4″ wide by 4″ tall.
The hand selected pieces for this pen were turned by Jack D. Ciallella on a lathe. They were sanded through several grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. The wood is then finished with boiled linseed oil, friction polish and wax, being buffed to a satin gloss.
The majority of this item was made, assembled and finished by hand.
