This classic slimline pencil was created using the plated 24K gold hardware. The center band is engraved, painted black and finished in a very hard epoxy to resist scratching. This pencil has two clean, dark lines running down opposite sides of the pen. They are separated by solid, light colored olivewood.
Olive is sometimes figured with curly or wavy grain, burl, or wild grain. Because of the fruit’s economic importance, trees aren’t felled for lumber and its scarcity makes it valuable for working. What makes this hardwood so unique is the extraordinary grain pattern of each individual piece, as well as the distinctive and inviting fragrance that it gives off. It even becomes darker, richer, and more beautiful in color as it ages! Occasionally available from wild trees, like this lumber.
The hand selected pieces for this pen were turned by Jack D. Ciallella on a lathe. They were sanded through twelve grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. A final seven coat finish of cyanoacrolate (”CA” Superglue) was applied, then buffed until shining beautifully. This method of finishing gives your pens the most durable exterior possible and a glisten that will last for many years.
The majority of this item was made, assembled and finished by hand.
