This classic slimline pen was created using the plated 24K gold hardware. The clip is painted black and finished in a very hard epoxy to resist scratching.
This pen was made using multiple wood species. Each piece has it’s own unique shade and grain, bringing together a beautiful display of colors with high class and a bit of eccentricity.
– Wild Olivewood
Each piece of wood is a cut-off from a larger block of wood. Then, the pieces are individually sanded, shaped, then glued and clamped together. The new "block" is sanded down into a rectangle with rounded edges, then drilled and ready to turn. This green method of using small, but beautiful wood scraps helps save exotic trees and eliminate waste.
The hand selected materials for this item were first cut and drilled, then turned on a lathe by me, Jack. Sanding is completed through several grits until the piece is smooth to the touch. Next, up to 10 finish coats of cyanoacrolate (”CA” Superglue) are applied by hand, one at a time. The finish is buffed with a series of micromesh pads, then shined with polishing compound until the surface has a glass-like appearance. A final rub on the buffing wheel adds depth and final clarity.
This method, the most difficult and intensive technique, provides your purchase with the most durable exterior possible, and a beautifully reflective surface that resists the elements and will last for many years.
