The Pen:
This classic slimline pen was created using the plated 24K gold hardware. The clip is painted black and finished in a very hard epoxy to resist scratching. This wood has a medium brown, with long, wavy stripes and occasional streaking.
The Wood:
One of today’s most prized lumbers for its outstanding color and figure; yet also one of the most infamous for its difficulty in shaping. Cocobolo can be seen in a kaleidoscope of different colors, ranging from yellow, orange, red, and shades of brown with streaks of black or purple. Sapwood is typically a very pale yellow. Colors are lighter when freshly sanded/cut, and darken with age
The Process:
The hand selected pieces for this pen were turned by Jack D. Ciallella on a lathe. They were sanded through several grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. The wood is then finished with boiled linseed oil, friction polish and wax, being buffed to a satin gloss.
