This classic slimline pen was created using the plated 24K gold hardware. The clip is painted black and finished in a very hard epoxy to resist scratching. The mixed top and bottom add an element of the outdoors to this wood and skin pen.
The snakeskin was legally harvested, carefully wrapped and glued to a brass barrel. This barrel was then carefully set and encased inside a block of resin. The block was cut, drilled and shaped into an appropriate size for the pen. The skin is completely smooth and well protected.
Bigleaf Maple is appropriately named, as its leaves are the largest of any maple, commonly reaching an overall width of 6 to 12 inches across. Bigleaf Maple is a commercially important hardwood timber for the United States’ west coast, where it is virtually the only commercial maple species in the region.
The hand selected pieces for this pen were turned by Jack D. Ciallella on a lathe. They were sanded through twelve grits of sandpaper until perfectly smooth. A final seven coat finish of cyanoacrolate (”CA” Superglue) was applied, then buffed until shining beautifully. This method of finishing gives your pens the most durable exterior possible and a glisten that will last for many years.
